FINALLY A FULL BATCH OF CHICKS

Finally we had some success with hatching. In summer the temperature broke all records and they eggs were too hot, then there was the case of the mother hen dieing on the nest and Rockie 4 the miracle chick hatched. Then while we were away in November we had record cold weather and the only chick to hatch was Buddy. This time the weather has been record warm but perfect for hatching. We got 8 out of 9 hatching.
This is Snowball and her gang of Scallywags.

TIME TO MEET THE CHICKADEES

Cher hatched 4 chicks there are 3 yellow ones and one black one. Black one is the smallest.
Cher is from the first batch of chicks we got called the Chicklets.

This is Cher she is not looking so good. She is taking a needed break from her nest of 10 eggs. She is doing a good job so if the boys did their job than we should get a good hatch near the end of this month. Normally she has a pretty fancy hair do but no time for maintenance I guess lol
We went to auction and picked up our money for the last 4 we sold. We got 10 bucks each so that is ok since they were older and that is what we paid for new layers this spring.

TIME TO GO TO THE AUCTION

Spike, two old hens and one Nigon went to the auction. Not sure what we got for them. Makes more room in the hen house which we will need. Cher is sitting on 10 eggs. So more baby chicks around the 23rd of this month. We still don't know for sure if any more of the Little Rascals are roosters, we hope not.

LITTLE RASCALS ARE 11 WEEKS OLD

This is Peek-a-boo and we think she is female. Their mom Heidi is laying eggs again. Where as Henrietta who is this one's granny is only now thinking about laying again.
Rockie and Rockie 2. The black one we believe is female.

We still can't be sure which are the boys and which are that gals. We should be able to tell but we can't . This one we think is male because his tail is down and he is so colourful.

NOW THATS AN EGG

Danny looked after the chickens while we were away and when he stopped over the other day he brought us one of the eggs he had collected. It turned out to be the only double yolker we have ever had.

LITTLE RASCALS ARE FOUR WEEKS OLD

They sure are growing fast, much faster than the chicklets.
Peek-a-boo and Rockie2 still hang out together although when in close quarters they tend to play fight. They love being outside
