Finally we had some success with hatching. In summer the temperature broke all records and they eggs were too hot, then there was the case of the mother hen dieing on the nest and Rockie 4 the miracle chick hatched. Then while we were away in November we had record cold weather and the only chick to hatch was Buddy. This time the weather has been record warm but perfect for hatching. We got 8 out

Spike, two old hens and one Nigon went to the auction. Not sure what we got for them. Makes more room in the hen house which we will need. Cher is sitting on 10 eggs. So more baby chicks around the 23rd of this month. We still don't know for sure if any more of the Little Rascals are roosters, we hope not.

Chickens came inside for a bit today while Marv cleaned the nest out. There are two like this I believe they are from Sophie's eggs. Sophie is one of the chickens on the front page of blog. Well twins turned into 5 so the family name is The Little Rascals and their names we dont know yet. When she was still sitting on eggs she would reach out for the food and throw it at the little chicks to get them to eat it was so cute. Its such fun to watch them.

Marvin was so excited when he came in from the chicken coop this morning. Meet Salt and Pepper. The Lone Rangers side kick Tonto is at it again. If the Lone Ranger does something, Tonto will soon follow him.While he was walking on the wild side, one of the hens found a worm and they were all running around trying to get the worm from her. Production for the month of June was 177 eggs which means they cost us 4.06 a dozen. We sold some for 3.50 a dozen. It definitely not a money maker, wait until you see the cost per dozen this winter. The chicks have a new safe place to go outside. They were so excited. Once mom got the area checked out and felt the chicks were safe she dug a hole and rolled around in it cleaning herself.
